We cannot say enough concerning Philz Landscape. One call and I connected with Pat. Angi provided me with several contractors, I received estimates but chose Philz Landscaping (even after coming in higher) because he satisfied with his estimate and start date our fervent desire to complete the project before winter set in. Alex, Javier set the example of professionalism in setting up the area to remove fencing and gate, installed vinyl fence with double gate (assisted by Carlos), removed all debris, left my yard spotless and we are extremely satisfied with the new fence and gate. Questions we had were answered (Helena, Phil) promptly and Alex, Javier went above and beyond ensuring my wife’s concerns were taken care of; I want again to Thank the team at Philz Landscaping and recommend highly to perform your project.

Had Phil and his workers come by my house to work on the backyard in May this year. Eliminate weeds, regrade soil and replant grass seed. 158 feet worth of backyard which he estimated $1600 to do. There was a hiccup with his office and scheduling and he wasn't even aware of the set date in mid-May. He rescheduled for the week after and took off $100 for inconvenience. His crew shows up and does the job and weeks after, grass grew....but not fully in corners of the yard. I called him back, voicemail immediately. Got in touch with his office and they said they would pass the message. His response times are atrocious and I told him about the patches in the grass. He says "no problem I'll send guys to evaluate and re-seed". They show up and do the job again. By mid-July, weeds are growing in very strong and grass is dying at exceedingly high rate despite me watering. I called him back and he says "that's odd, I'll come by this afternoon or tomorrow" in September when I finally get a hold of him. He never shows up or responds to texts or further calls. The photos below are post-lawn work with visible patches and weeds. I had to spend additional monies on top soil, grass seed and water to correct the loss of 50% of the lawn!! If you want an overpriced job not done right, Phil is your guy!!

Philz Landscaping built 2 patios on my property. One is flagstone and the other is pavers with a retaining wall. Both are absolutely beautiful. Working with Phil and his team has been a great experience. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliability, quality, and reasonable pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

A stockade fence is a traditional wood fence design featuring closely-placed vertical boards with pointed tops that provide privacy and security. Its popular in Crum Lynne due to its classic appearance, effectiveness at creating private outdoor spaces, and relatively simple installation process.
Local regulations can vary; however, homeowners typically need to obtain a building permit from the local municipality before constructing a fence. Its important to check with the Ridley Township Building & Planning Department (or relevant local authority) for specific requirements like height restrictions, property lines, setback rules, and any other zoning laws.
Proper maintenance includes regular cleaning to remove dirt and mildew, applying stains or sealants every few years to protect against weathering, promptly repairing any damaged sections to prevent further deterioration, and ensuring proper drainage around the base of the fence to prevent wood rot.
Pressure-treated lumber is commonly recommended because it resists decay and insects which are essential qualities given Pennsylvanias varying climate. Cedar and redwood are also good options due to their natural resistance to rot and pests. Additionally, applying water-repellent preservatives or stain-sealant products can help enhance durability against weather elements.
While some homeowners may choose to DIY if they have the necessary tools and expertise, most people opt for professional installation. This ensures that the job adheres to local codes and is completed efficiently with proper alignment and secure anchoring. Professional contractors will also handle potential obstacles such as uneven terrain or underground utilities more adeptly.
